There were music acts, poetic acts, comedic to plain weird acts! All were wonderful and each added their own special spice to the programme. As the typical American teen would put it, "...sweeeet!.." or "...cool..." or "...awesome..." ;]

Anyway, as some of you would have guessed, I did sign up for it at the last minute.

" NExt up, we have King Puiiii.." Angie pronounced into the microphone.

I walked up to the small stage, with an item on each hand and a toothy grinon my face. The 2 essential items were of course : an acoustic guitar & oversized sunglasses.. ( both belonging to a friend, Bryan Hornsby)
I did 'Open Up The Gates' by Planetshakers. No preparation at all, so i kinda screwed up at certain places *ouch* But!! with cheers of support by fellow christians[and laughter too!] , I finished well.
Incredible feeling I had.

I believe it had a purpose. Because, after that, many came to shake my hand, introduce themselves, and for the first time, we had more to talk about than just "What's ur name" and "Where do you come from"..

"Holy *#@! King, I thought you weren't really gonna play that guitaarr!!..."

On Monday: Labor Day and public holiday in USA
Program: Fundraising in World's of Fun, Kansas City

At 8.30am, we gathered in the parking lot of Christian Campus House. All about a dozen of us, dressed in a plain white shirt, and black pants. Upon reaching the theme park, we were ushered into a room to get ready for a day's hard work. Our uniforms were pretty dorky, but .. .. who cares? heheh..

I have a few pics in the gallery. Check it out!
But, more importantly, I want to answer this question some of you may be asking... :Why?? Why go on this trip??! Why, work hard (frying funnel cakes) when all your salary goes into someone else's hands?

Why: I remembered a sermon from Destiny Conference, Penang. "Start with the small, when you are provided ANY chance to serve God, no matter how trivial the task may be, do it. Just say Yes! Yes.
Pastor Ashok's words rang in my head: "Availability NOT Ability..." How true.

Yes, our money, hard work, sweat and toil is now in someone else's hands. But, ultimately it's in God's hands. And how powerful that small offering may be, when in the hands of a GREAT AND MIGHTY GOD!

Grill With King
Matthew 20:28
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Just recently, I found a part-time job on campus. As any international student, I can only work on campus. This 10-hour a week job will be keeping my Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons busy... very busy. What's the job like? Grilling hamburgers, cheeseburgers, patty melts, french fries and stuff... Really greasy and hot environment...Well, what's that got to do with the bible verse above? Aha.

...In NO way am I comparing myself to the Son of Man.. Definitely not! But as I began work, serving and slaving for someone else IS a reality... And I'm not referring to only one person, but being a servant to many people at a time: The dining hall manager, supervisor, older workers, students...

I have to be honest: I did NOT like that one bit.

Submission to anyone other than God or parents is no fun at all. Plain torture if you ask me... And some of these people actually do HAVE the right and authority over us!

Now let me draw your attention to Jesus.

All the glory. All the light. All the power....
would come humbly in the form of a mere mortal baby... Ironic, huh?
Born in a stable, grew up doing miraculous works, served and suffered for His beloved people, and ULTIMATELY giving His precious life for us ! ...when all the while, WE are the ones who are supposed to love and serve Him.

That ...... is Love.
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

I am grateful to God for opening my eyes once again to His suffering, by allowing me to endure this just a little of His humiliation and servanthood.

But...Rejoice everyone. For He is dead no more!

I'm Back!
Alright, because of you guys' constant complaining, here's some serious updating from me. =]

September 19 and 20: Men's Retreat at Lake Stockton, MO
Organised by: Guys at Christian Campus House
Rules: strictly, absolutely, NO GIRLS ALLOWED! =) woo hoo!

Don't be offended, girls. You wouldn't wanna spend time with dirty, sweaty, smelly guys anyway. Anyway, Journey to the Lake took about 2 hours of reckless, fast, American driving. On the way, realized Missouri is very flat too. No hills in sight.
Darkness has only just begun to fall when we arrived. Campfire... Hotdogs... And later on, a simple worship followed by Word.
Brotherhood was formed:
In a nutshell, we guys actually did bond that night... The stuff we shared was very personal(thats why I can't type it out in the World Wide Web's tabulas/share it with you people)Had a time of prayer next, the funny part was we guys held hands to pray... of course, before doing it we did some loud "Ahem"s!=)

*see pics at gallery*
I had enjoyable fellowship on the second day of the retreat too... The pictures I took of a "beach" isn't the actual lake, but is at the mouth of a river leading to the lake. Stockton Lake is very large, some people say it's the best sailing lake in the Midwest... And you guessed right, I did some sailing and water skiing... First time ever!=)

Never underestimate water skiing.
that's what I did. And man, was I in for a surprise! The moderately powered boat (carrying 5 guys too),coupled with my inexperience at water skiing.... guess how many times I tried before succeeding in GETTING UP!
The answer is: 3-4 times... and then poof!, I am skiing!... barely 15 seconds later, I tumbled head first into the cold, cold water.*sigh*

At end of the day, my numb hands could barely open the car door.. =)
