One Thing: Young Adult Conferences
Venue: Bartle Hall, Kansas City
28- 31st December 2003

WE (Kingfu and I) spent our last few days of 2003 at this event. About 5000 other people participated, and the main auditorium was about filled. The stage was at the middle front[of course] and there were 2 big screen projectors on the left and right of it. On the first night, two friends of mine from the Warrensburg group waited near the entrance to the auditorium for me. Charles had my wristband(important artifact) to show that I have registered and paid for the event. Oh! Just remembered that I have yet to pay the fees to Charles! *aiyo

After much anticipation, it kicked off with a worship session, lead by IHOP(International House of Prayer) member Todd Ganovski. Most of them songs were new to me, cos it came from his album. Btw, the IHOP is the organiser for the One Thing event. Strong and passionate was the worship leader for that night. But that's my point of view, and my comments shouldn't be important at all. Worship is about the Lord, aint it? =]

Mike Bickle(the boss) came and gave the opening sermon. It covered such an extensive area. And besides that, it was UNLIKE what most conference messages are about. This wasn't geared to an evangelistic or "newbie-christian" thinge, I think. The speaker was "fiery"..heheh,..... 110 decibels thru out the entire sermon. *More about the message of One Thing later. *

I have many feelings about it..... thats all.
Oh yeah, learnt a new word that nite= eschatology

Let's have something special today. Here's one wonderful song from Delirious?. It's called Majesty. I highlighted my favorite part.

Majesty

Here I am humbled by your Majesty
Covered by your grace so free
Here I am knowing I'm a sinful man
Covered by the blood of the Lamb

Now I've found the greatest love of all is mine
Since you laid down your life
The greatest sacrifice

Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands

Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty

Here I am humbled by the love that you give
Forgiven so that I can forgive
Here I stand, knowing that I'm your desire
Sanctified by glory and fire

One Thing : continued....

Whats eschatology? Eschatology= Study of End-times. End times which also means the period nearing Armageddon, Judgement Day. Yup, I learnt that in the conference. And according to the IHOP staff (organizers of the event), that time is drawing very near. ----*Bah* we always hear that, dont we...?---- Well, not only do they claim that Jesus will be coming again soon, they ALSO claim that some of us would be here to actually see itand be part of it!!

"Nearing this age, God will raise up a young-adult movement which will be focused on prayer, worship, and prophecy. " I think thats probably the thesis statement of the One Thing. Yup.

Another point they made known to us is: ... the end-time church will experience a greater revival, much more greater than the day of Pentecost... a victorious and glorious church! (Eph 5:26-27)

Sounds very intriguing, doesn't it? =]

The sound....

It is about 5pm. The sky is beginning to darken. I hear a rumbling sound; starts out soft but slowly turns into a hideous growl... On instinct i look out the window. Strangely the sky isn't cloudy at all, and neither does the weather forecast on FOX4News at 5 indicate any coming thunderstorms. Upon further usage of my precious grey matter, I realize the source of the rumblings aren't external, but internal...

Time for dinner.

My dinner.

Should i ready my spear? My bow and arrow? I decide not to. I remember the words of America's minister of UncleSam's Security. "Although the terror alert has gone down from the orange level, we are still on elevated threat status... blah blah bla" .
My foreign appearance(not to mention the hunting spear) may spark a panic in this still "vulnerable" land.

Next choice would be chinese [food]. Kin Lin Restaurant isn't that far away. However, i still have doubts about getting my dinner from there. Please don't get me wrong, the food ain't bad. It's just that my tastebuds have gotten SO familiar to KinLin's taste ....that I dread another bite of it. =]

Dinner

So I decided to cook. =] hah! Scouring the cupboards in the kitchen, I found numerous artifacts. All these artifacts potentially important to make my dinner more pleasant to eat. With trembling hands, I reached into the cupboard and picked out some packets of spice...

"Let's see... rempah udang bercili, penang bak kut teh oreejinal, spicy chicken soup, maggi chicken cubes..." *Sigh* There were too many choices, and i can't think on an empty stomach! argh!... My hands reached for a drawer a few inches above and opened it. Instantly, I saw something not too hard for KingPui too cook: MiHun. (In american, would be chinese vermicelli) "Hmm, I COULD fry it...." I thought.

TIme: 5.30 pm
Place: Kitchen of Kingfu's apartment
Mission: ....is it impossible? im not sure myself....

----Warning: the following recipe could be disastrous. Do not attempt at home by your own. [Women]please note that it is performed by an 18-year old untrained MALE---- =]

Steps:
1. Put frozen piece of chicken in warm water to thaw.
2. Soak mihun in water.
3. Heat oil in pan.
4. Cut onions up(in the process, let a few drops of tears go)
5. In similar style, cut green veggies and half a tomato.
6. Put some onions in heated oil to fry. (as sprinkling on the finished dish) Oh yeah, guys, remember to take the onions out when its nice and brown. NOT when it's BLACK. =] heheh.
7. [This step Only when necessary] Safely dispose of over-fried onions by throwing them into the garbage.
8. Cut up chicken into chewable slices =] .
9. As a recycling measure, put chicken bones into boiling soup.
10. Prepare soup with some water, 1 maggi cube, and a dash of ajinomoto MSG.
11. Fry chicken slices for a while together with other ingredients.
12. Add mihun and fry some more. If too dry, add some of the prepared soup.

Step 13 is eating the masterpiece which is King's Fried Mi Hun.
*flashes smile to camera* =]

Snowboarding experience!!!
My christmas break ended with a bang! On Saturday, I went to Snow Creek, Kansas City with Marcus, Jeremy and KingFu. Snow Creek is a skiing and snowboarding place. It isn't actually real snow in Snow Creek. [Missouri's weather is so un-even] hahha! The only way to have "snowsports in MO is artificial snow!"..... But let me tell you this, it ain't Mines Wonderland la.... This whole place was covered in "snow"..... so it's pretty real. After paying entrance fee, we found out that we can only choose either to ski or to board. No trying out both. Of course we all feel that snowboarding is "OH-SO cool".... but I was kinda hesitant about trying... What if it's too hard?[people say boardin has a higher learning curve] What if I dont enjoy myself? Waste money la like that......

But, in the end, KF persuaded me to try out the "real" stuff.... hahah! no regret here =]] Snowboardin, here we go!

So I guess that's the cool thing la. It's been over for so long actually. But because of the preparations for the new semester, I couldn't spend much time updating. Ask me if you wanna know more, ya?'

OH yeah, had my haircut short already. =] heheh.. I can finally feel the cold breeze.

I guess the doxology is a good way to start. =]

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost...
- (done David Crowder style) watch it

Recently, I've been exploring many old songs and hymns. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. Those simple but powerful words. Absolutely beautiful.

Lessons learnt:
God's timing is perfect. I should be patient. I should trust Him. Him and his plan for me. Gosh. I don't even know his plan for me. Maybe what I think is my calling, isn't God's plan for me at all. Or maybe it's still not time yet. I don't know. Thank you, dear Lord. Thank you for being so faithful. Sometimes you're just so.... overwhelming. Thank you for showing me that my focus should be on you, and NOT on ministry. When you show me your glory. Wow. At that time, the things of the world would grow dim. And nothing else can compare. Put in me a humble heart, Lord. When I think I know enough, when I think I am good enough, Pull-me-down-to-the-ground-again, Lord! For in this life, I could never grasp the full truth of your word. When pride takes me, I am doomed. So save me. Be my vision. Be my wisdom. You are the Christ. And You are the rock. You are my foundation. All other ground is sinking sand. Don't wanna forget that.

It's a Friday morning
Weather predictions for this weekend: the most snowfall ever in a decade! So brace yourself, jesusboy. But of course, the snow and chill could never match Josh's place in Northfield, huh? I just got that weather news from class. Could have got it from the TV broadcast, but all I ever watch on TV are cartoons. =] Ahahah!

This week is SuperBowl Sunday, an event prolly bigger than Christmas for many people. Superbowl only lasts about 4 hours. I didn't know that. I thought it was some kind of league like World Cup or something. Muahah! But soccer still rules! =] But still looking forward to my first Superbowl experience...

I'm applying to be a CA. A Community Advisor. Basically take charge of a whole floor at a dorm. I hope I get it. It could lower my expenses a lot! Besides that, life's been cool and routine. Been able to talk about God with a friend from Guam. Strong "Atheist" heheh.! =] TOnight's an International Dinner at Craig House, But I wont' be there cos I have work in the Dinin Hall...

Yupper. God bless everyone.
