Are these ashes
Do I see coals
My fingers floating above sacred infernos
The stream is alive and nigh
swishing and teasing
I only need ask
for it vows to save me and perhaps
maybe I
So what's your first thought when told that you get to plant churches?
Darn. I probably have to be nice to everybody now.
Honest Conjectures
First off, I must say that I'm quite ignorant about the Hezbollah-Israel war going on now. That is a fact. Now that you're read the disclaimer, we shall proceed. I want to talk about the natural despisement for the 'enemies of Israel' that I've noticed quite prevalent here in the States. In short, why is Israel automatically assumed to be the protagonist and Hezbollah the antagonist of the story?
"They started it." - Israel
"No. They started it." - Hezbollah
Maybe I don't "get it" because I'm Malaysian. My passport works anywhere in the world except in Israel. But I follow Christ. I have no Muslim sympathies, nor do I give myself any advantage by raising this question... So why? Why do Christians side with the nation of Israel? Must they? Again, being so "enlightened" about this issue myself, this could potentially be a very dumb question.
Someone asked me the other day: "Why did God choose the Jewish to be his chosen people? Why not others?" Well. First, look at it this way: Jesus had to come as someone. He couldn't have come as both male and female. He had to be either male or female. He came as a male. In that same way, maybe the "chosen people" label was given to Israel because that is where Jesus was going to come from. The whole deal is because of Jesus Christ; like the whole Bible is essentially about Jesus. Am I wrong here?(seriously.. I'm asking)
I thought that in Christ Jesus there is no Jew nor Gentile, male nor female, slave nor free....etc. It only matters if one knows Christ or rejects Him, right? So is Lebanon a Christian nation? No. Is Israel? No. There is no Christian nation. The same goes for the States: the United States is not a Christian nation.(Am I allowed to say that?) Christians live in it, of course! ...Christians played a huge part in its history, for sure... but that's it. There is no Christian nation in the same way there is no Christian music. There are only "Christian PEOPLE."
There is, however... a Kingdom of God. Thank God that's a totally different thing.
I really hate writing disclaimers. Truly I do.
By the way, did you see Spielberg's Munich? Eric Bana rocked as an Israeli. Now we know - assasination hit-squads really do exist. For fear of my dear life, I would like to take this opportunity to proclaim to my readers that I am not anti-Semitist. I'm not Nazi, and my daddy ain't a remnant of the Third Reich. So there is no need of infiltrating the fortress that is Warrensburg to pawn me...
