Poem for Meg
cherishing
tumbling in the savoury green
of day
I thank God I need not
be alone now that she
daughter of Eve
her luscious smile dancing
style
to me she has made known
"At last" I cried, in awe
away blown
"At last, a woman who shone."

Campus Church Update
Check out Carson's blog about the church multiplication value. This week I had a funny story about using this word "multiplying" in lieu of a "church-split." I have been using the term "church-split" for a few weeks now, without being aware of its connotations. Silly me. So there we (Meg and I) were talking to an OA, giving her some twinkies in a cool handmade cloth bag, and telling her that Houts/Hosey Church is "splitting". Immediately upon hearing that, she made an audible as well as incredibly gestural 'gasp'. (I'm glad my woman is so much quicker than I am.) Meg then explained to her that the campus church wasn't "splitting" because we hate each other and have 'irreconcilable doctrinal differences', but have gathered enough people to start a church on the other side of campus. I can only pray that no one else gets confused by that mistake of mine.
So which church do I go to now?
Some of you might be asking this question because your leaders are slackers and have yet to email you or tell you personally. Well, if you are residing in the East Side of UCM, Carson would love to have you give your effort in planting the UCC Church. Houts Hosey Church will remain in its place; hopefully to continue discovering the good works God has placed before us to do AND obeying Him. More important than asking "where should I go" is "what should I do..." For now, I ask that you implore God and plead Him to prepare us, collectively as a group, and individually.
But not seeing my friends would really suck though...
We agree. The Church (holy universal, with a capital C) may be jacked up, messed down, screwed sideways sort of bride, but we love it nonetheless. There is really no substitution for being in the company of broken Jesus followers trying to turn the world downside up. Downside- UP, beginning with ourselves as individuals, through Jesus and Him alone. I love you guys. So very thankful to have met you all.
Therefore, all the leaders are bent on coming up with a way to have both churches(currently) in the Campus Church Network to have regular interactions, flowing generosity, and encouragement. So not all will be lost; you will still call one another upward in Christ.
Why must we do this in the first place?
Because we must. Even not-so-smart people who aren't in the "Honors College" need Jesus too. Right?
[gosh, i'm going to get some serious fire from some of you for that statement.] Here's a Link to Campus Church Values. If we say the church exists primarily for people outside the church, then it's only right if we have the actions to back it up. Here's a very agreeable quote from Ben Arment of History Church:“[W]e [must] fully grasp the church is not for us, but rather, we are the church and we’re here for the world.”
Love you all - and see you at 1st Houts Lounge 5pm Sundays.
If you're in UCC Church - Sunday 5pm 1st floor UCC conference rooms.

I Consume the Mystical Mercy
Houts/Hosey Church did some cleansing of water closets on Sunday. It was altogether lovely. We prayed for the ministry of the UCC Church in the East Side and also for some friends of ours who are unwell. I find it very fulfilling if I don't just listen to or read the words of Jesus, but also to obey Him and find out the rippling effect of His ways. I pray the Church will know that true Jesus-following undeniably shatters the ways of the world.
On Jesus
How wonderful mercy is. As I look deep into self, I find nothing worthy of forgiveness. Nothing worthy of redemption; only a crusty, deceitful blackheart. Considering that, mercy to me is nonsense. A scandal. But magical; something only God could've pulled off.
Thursday Plans
The leaders are planning on having a campus church meal this thursday. Possibly having communion together for the first time. Will figure out full details soon.
Announcements
Announcements Campus Church
Hope it's all good with you this week. From what I hear, it's been mighty busy. We're inviting you to chill out and have a meal with the campus church.
This Thursday, 19 Oct
At the Baptist Student Union
(across the road from Ward Edwards Building)
6:30pm to whenever
Both UCC Church and Houts/Hosey Church are going to be there. What an awesome time to pray for and encourage one another. PLUS- we are planning to have the Lord's Supper together. So prepare yourselves for this time; we want to take it sincerely, and to give honor to Jesus Christ, that we might not be judged (1 Corinthians 11:29-31). [don't worry, more will be explained]
The leaders recognize that this get-together is superb opportunity to invite our friends who have yet to know Jesus. THEREFORE- please invite your friends to come at 7PM. So that they may not feel awkward during the Lord's Supper.
Lord's Supper at BSU 6:30pm.
Dinner at BSU 7pm.
Lastly, we're gonna cook some chicken. If you're able to bring a dish, please do so that we'll have plenty to share. Email back and tell if
-you're going to come
-or if you're bringing food

Wish List
I had some pictures to go along with the post for blandness-reduction, but the picture-upload feature just isn't working tonight. Meg and Mal and Kim and Sarah and Cheryl and Suze and Megan played some killer girls soccer tonight, causing me to hack out a lung in hurrahs. Good job and congratulations on the victorious vanquishing! Other news- have you guys heard of the Project Gutenberg? Pretty cool site. Am I being sucked further into nerd-dom? Never did I expect to reach a point in life when I'd consider the library an amusing place. When did words start winning battles against the pictures? Shrug. These days I've been lusting over several worldly items.
1. A good, durable, non-stick skillet made of the alloy Testosteronium.
2. Poetry For Dummies.
3. An album by Sigur Ros, Agaetis Byrjun.
4. A neato coat from Target instead of Wal-Mart.
5. Some shoes suitable for New York City Subway Winter Mosh Pit.
6. Ninja turtle Halloween suit like Caleb's.
